Community

Service defines Rotary’s character; whether local or international, it promotes Rotary’s appeal and visibility in the community, and is the reason Rotary continues to grow.

Community service responds to the needs of a local community. Rotary clubs determine top priorities for service projects by first learning about a community’s needs and assets and then developing a response that addresses them.

Some of the local community projects supported are:

Christian Action

Christian Action is a Hong Kong registered charitable organisation established in 1985 (Registration No. 161383). Their mission is to help the poor and disadvantaged in Hong Kong and Mainland China with particular emphasis upon displaced persons, irrespective of race, sex, religion or nationality.

China Coast Community

China Coast Community is a unique Care and Attention Home in Hong Kong. It provides residential care for English speaking elderly persons regardless of their financial circumstances. They will have spent a significant period of their lives in Hong Kong or the Far East.

Hong Kong Cancer Fund

Hong Kong Cancer Fund is Hong Kong’s largest cancer support organisation, providing free information and professional support to anyone living with or affected by cancer. They ensure no one faces cancer alone.

Their mission is to make life better for people touched by cancer.

RCKN is a Major Sponsor of the Hong Kong Cancer Fund’s annual charity walk “Stride for a Cure” in Tai Tam Country Park.

Camp Quality

Founded in Australia in 1983, and now operating in more than 20 countries worldwide, Camp Quality is an international organization providing year-round support for children undergoing treatment for cancer and their families.

The Rainbow Project

The Rainbow Project was established in 1999 by a group of parents and childcare professionals as a non-profit organization in Hong Kong, the Rainbow project aims to:

  • Provide special educational facilities for children with autism
  • Promote awareness of autism in the Hong Kong community

The Hub Hong Kong

The Hub is a children’s support concept which originated in Australia as part of the work of the Bill Crews Foundation. The idea of The Hub is to provide a place for children who are either homeless or in very difficult circumstances at home to go to receive food, clothing and various other kinds of support and shelter.

Dreams Come True – ‘Excel Your Potential’

After the successful ‘Dreams Come True’ project by Rotary club of Peninsula collaborated with Hong Kong Society of Rehabilitation in 2012, we want to continue this project and help more people in need. This is a Rotary Are 7 joint project and work together with four organizations: Namely, Youth Outreach, Rehabilitation Power, Hong Kong Society of Rehabilitation and Home care for Girls. Our Goal is to help the young people to unleash their potential and realize their dreams.
